The US Equestrian Federation is the governing body for many multi-breed shows nationwide. The Federation's mission is to showcase the various breeds by exemplifying form and function with the welfare of the horse being of utmost importance.

The open division, including the American Saddlebred, Arabian, Appaloosa, Equitation and Morgans, are presented in accordance with rules established by USEF at the National Western Horse Show.

These breeds are shown in performance classes only, where the obedience of the horse to its rider and the way the horse moves are of paramount importance. The USEF open classes are an enjoyable comparison of each type of
horse, while offering a Challenge of the Breeds setting.

The open division shows Jan. 14 and Jan. 15 with championships that afternoon
.
