The Green Carpet.

The National Western Stock Show (NWSS) is renowned for several reasons. One aspect that never goes unnoticed is the green carpet. Champions are named on this carpet. It is safe to say the NWSS has one of the most unforgettable grand drives.

Kenzie Neve, a freshman from Albany, Texas, will have her first green carpet experience in the NWSS Junior Market Steer Champion Grand Drive.

“I saw the green carpet rolled up when I first got here,” Neve said. “It really sets in why we are here; to win.”

Neve has been showing for six years, but this is her first time to attend the NWSS. She said the biggest difference, other than how cold it is compared to Texas, was the three-judge system. Although this new experience was slightly nerve-racking, it did not hold Neve back.

Outside of the show ring, Neve said her favorite thing about showing is getting to travel and spend time with her friends and family. She also mentions she enjoys her evenings at home working hair and setting cattle up.

When asked to describe her first experience at the National Western she summed it up with one word: Great.

As the green carpet gets rolled out this evening in the Stadium Arena on The Hill, Neve will exhibit her steer in the grand drive one last time.
