Working The West

On Display May 14 – August 14, 2026

The National Western debuted Working the West, a compelling new Western art exhibition on view from May 14, 2026, through August 14, 2026, in the Katherine and J. Robert Wilson Art Gallery at The Legacy. 

Working the West brings together an acclaimed group of artists whose work captures the authenticity, resilience, and beauty of life in the American West. Featured artists include photographers Anouk Masson Krantz, Jay Dusard, Jim Krantz, and Rob Hammer, alongside ceramicist Luke Beatty and master saddlemaker Doug Cox.

Along the Trail, Selections from Colorado Museums and Private Collections

On Display January 8 – April 18, 2026

The opening exhibition was called Along the Trail, Selections from Colorado Museums and Private Collections. It featured over 30 paintings from The Koshare Indian Museum in La Junta, The A.R. Mitchell Museum in Trinidad, and paintings from several Colorado private collections.

The exhibition highlights paintings from Charles Partridge Adams, Frank Mechau, Arthur Mitchell, Larry Heller, Joseph Henry Sharp, Oscar Berninghaus, Edgar Payne, E. Martin Hennings, E. Irving Couse, along with several other artists. The paintings show the history of artists working in Colorado, along with the Taos Society of Artists and the story of their relationship with The Koshare Indian Museum. The paintings were all completed between the mid-1800’s through 1970’s.
