Invitational Freestyle Reining Interest Form

Applications for 2026 are now open!

The Invitational Freestyle Reining remains a standout event at the National Western Stock Show, drawing sold-out crowds year after year with its thrilling display of equestrian sports. In honor of its 30-year impact on the industry and to solidify its status as the premier freestyle reining event in the country, the purse is $30,000, making it the richest freestyle reining competition in the nation.

Reiners from across North America are encouraged to apply for this prestigious, invitation-only event by September 30th. Riders will be selected for the National Reining Horse Association-approved $30,000 Invitational Freestyle Reining based on a range of criteria, ensuring the highest quality, competition, and entertainment that align with the standards of the event and the National Western Stock Show. Each year, top professionals within the reining industry will provide their expertise in the selection process.

To be considered, please complete the interest form below for the 2026 Invitational Freestyle Reining by September 30, 2025. If you have not competed in the Invitational Freestyle Reining in 2016-2025 it is recommended you include a link or file of a Freestyle Reining run that shows your potential and experience in freestyle reining. If you have not competed in Freestyle Reining in the past please include a brief description of your potential routine including music and costuming. The selections will be based on quality, talent, creativity, and entertainment. Initial invitations will be extended in November.

Songs selected and used in the previous two Invitational Freestyle Reining events (including the Youth Freestyle Reining Showcase) will not be available for use in routines for the 2026 event. A list of unavailable songs is here.
