DENVER, Colo. – The brackets of the 2024 National Western Stock Show Rodeo were completed on Friday and contestants are now ready for Saturday’s Semi-Finals.

Reigning world champions showed fans in the Denver Coliseum the talent that it took to win gold buckles in 2023 and are embarking on the 2024 season in style. It started Wednesday afternoon when Texans Tyler Wade from Terrell, and Wesley Thorp from Throckmorton, stopped the clock in 4.8 seconds in the team roping. With Wade heading and Thorp roping heels that was the fastest time of round one and Bracket 8. They came back Friday night with another smoking run of 4.9 seconds and are leading the pack going into the Semi-Finals.

In the tie-down roping, it was Riley Webb who thrilled the fans for the second year in a row. Webb won here last year and is looking good for a repeat title. He had times of 7.4 and 8.2 on Friday to give him a total of 15.6 seconds. If he keeps it up, he will be here on Sunday roping for another National Western Stock Show Rodeo championship buckle and a big chunk of money to kick off the 2024 season.

There are three performances here on Saturday and each one of them is a Semi-Finals in the tournament-style rodeo. Eight competitors in each event will hope to be among the top four that advance to Sunday’s Championship Finals. Rodeo performances are at 11 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.
