Date and hour requirements will vary by department, but all interns should expect to work all 16 days of the 2026 Stock Show (January 10 - January 25) and start on January 5th. The hours will be long, but the experiences and connections made will be worth it!

The National Western Stock Show is always accepting applications for volunteers, and now is the perfect time to apply! Application Instructions
Applicants are required to submit a resume and cover letter to be considered for any internship with the National Western Stock Show. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program.
To apply, click the link under the description of the placement you are most interested in. As a part of your application, you will also be asked to identify your second and third choices for placement - please be sure to select different areas!
Applications will be accepted August 18 - October 5, 2025. You will be contacted by a member of our team to schedule an in-person or virtual interview from October 5 - November 1, 2025. Some positions require interns to start earlier, so interviews for those positions will begin first. If you are not selected for your first option, we will continue to review your application for your second and third options.
If selected, contact your academic advisor or department internship coordinator to register for internship credits. We realize that the Stock Show may overlap with the first week of spring classes; while professors are normally willing to work with you during this time, if selected as an intern, it is your responsibility to contact professors in advance and arrange any necessary make-up work before you leave for the Stock Show.
Wage & Salary Info
While this is an unpaid internship, NWSS will provide all interns with lodging, two meals per day, and select rodeo tickets. NWSS interns will be invited to special events throughout Stock Show and will have the opportunity to network with prominent business owners and leaders in the Colorado and Wyoming agriculture industry. Interns are responsible for their own transportation, but will receive a travel stipend to help cover costs associated with travel.

The finance department strives in a spirit of excellence, integrity, and dedication to commit to providing timely, accurate, transparent, and complete financial statements using generally accepted accounting principles to support other NWSS departments, its governing board, and members. Our Finance Department is excited to offer a meaningful experience for one intern while providing hands-on experience with the accounting software NetSuite and programs integrated with NetSuite, such as Lightspeed for point of sale, Excel, Exhibitor’s Corner for livestock entries, Masterpiece for Coors Western Art sales, and more. Applicants should possess an understanding of basic accounting principles, organizational skills, communication skills, work ethic and integrity, written communication skills, data entry skills, attention to detail, eagerness to learn hands-on how to apply accounting principles in a non-profit setting, and accountability.
The Accounting Department provides accounting and administrative support for other departments during the Stock Show, particularly Livestock, Rodeo, Horse, and Trade Show. Such support is provided by processing purchase orders, bills, invoicing customers, and processing cash & credit card transactions. Due to the nature of the Stock Show, the Accounting Department is open daily from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm from January 5 to January 25, 2026.
The intern will report to Mike Kava, Accounting Manager, and support the Controller and Staff Accountant. The focus of the internship will generally be transactional in nature, but the Accounting Department will provide exposure to other accounting duties to benefit the intern’s experience. Duties would include:
- Entering accounts payable.
- Entering accounts receivable.
- Maintaining spreadsheets.
- Assisting with software and hardware issues in Livestock/Horse Offices and Volunteer Offices.
- Entering information for contestants and exhibitors into the accounting system.
- Collaborating with staff in other departments as needed.
- Assisting with other tasks as designated to support the Finance Department.
The successful and ideal candidate will be an undergraduate accounting student attending a local college or university. Basic Excel and computer skills are helpful. The ability to interact with other employees at every level, as well as guests, volunteers, and customers, is critical. Hours are flexible and will be assigned as needed and as the intern is available.

Your journey with us will encompass a range of responsibilities, from crafting the perfect setup to gracefully wrapping up each event.
Picture yourself in the midst of the action, assembling and dismantling microphones and PA systems. As you dip your toes into the realm of audio mixing, you will collaborate with our valued vendors, forge connections, and contribute to the synergy that makes our events shine.

Step behind the scenes of one of the nation’s premier Western art exhibits and experience the magic of pulling off large-scale events that combine fine art, culture, and community impact. As a Coors Western Art intern, you’ll be part of a small, dynamic team producing unforgettable experiences—from gallery openings with hundreds of guests to immersive receptions for a new generation of collectors.
Whether you’re an art enthusiast, an aspiring event planner, a social media creative, or simply someone eager to learn in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, this internship will give you skills, connections, and experiences you can take anywhere.
What You’ll Do:
- Create and schedule engaging content for Instagram and Facebook
- Keep our website fresh by uploading artwork, artist bios, and event info.
- Learn the ins and outs of our Gallery Management System, point-of-sale tools, and payment processing.
- Assist with art installation/deinstallation, shipping logistics, and making artwork labels.
- Work closely with artists during drop-off and pick-up days.
- Help plan and execute two of Denver’s most anticipated art events:
- Red Carpet Reception – A high-energy, 1,000-guest evening where collectors bid on exceptional works of contemporary Western art.
- Young Guns Reception – A lively night of art, music, and interactive experiences for emerging collectors.
- Pitch in on everything from seating charts to event set-up/breakdown to gallery monitoring during the Stock Show.

Schedule & Commitment:
Interns will need to be available 2-3 days per week in November and 3-4 days per week in December through the beginning of Stock Show (January 10, 2026). Some remote work may be permitted. Required late nights are December 18, 2025, and January 7-8, 2026. Required workdays are December 15-19, 2025, and January 5-9, 2026. Time spent in the Western Art Department before Stock Show will be largely event planning and execution, social media, and administrative. During January 10-26th, interns will be expected to help with gallery staffing, assisting with check out, promotion and marketing, and other daily duties. Interns are welcome and encouraged to work with other service departments if they are interested in areas besides Western art (this must be approved through that department before the start of Stock Show). Ideally, the candidate will be able to work at least 1-2 days the week after Stock Show, January 26-30, 2026, but this is not required if there are school commitments. Specific work dates and times will be coordinated with selected individuals.

The Education Department plays a vital role in promoting agricultural literacy by connecting over 700,000 guests with immersive exhibits, engaging youth programs, and interactive experiences. Working in close collaboration with Colorado State University, Colorado FFA, commodity groups, volunteers, and other partners, our team brings the story of agriculture to life each January.
About the Internship
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain behind-the-scenes experience in event production, educational programming, and agriculture-based outreach. Interns will support the planning, logistics, and daily operations of several high-profile programs and activations during the 16-day Stock Show, with involvement across departments including Strategic Partnerships, Trade Show, and Ticketing.
In addition to coordinating guest experiences, interns will assist in the daily care and upkeep of animals featured in key educational exhibits. Duties may include feeding, watering, pen cleaning, animal handling, and supporting animal health and welfare under the guidance of staff.

The National Western’s Department of Human Relations (HR) is dedicated to supporting the National Western Stock Show’s goals through its most valuable resource – its PEOPLE. During the National Western Stock Show, our department is tasked with recruiting, hiring, and onboarding over 500 seasonal employees to assist in various departments, including Livestock, Event Operations, and Guest Relations.
During their time with the HR Department, interns will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment to assist in a variety of HR disciplines, including recruiting, onboarding, talent management, and employee relations. Interns will receive hands-on experience with applicant tracking systems, human resource information systems, and internal reporting database,s as well as getting lots of practice in face-to-face, telephone, and email communications with people from all walks of life and employees at all levels of the organization, from seasonal employee to CEO.
Interns will report directly to the Director of Human Relations & Hiring and will work closely with the HR Generalists and seasonal HR Assistants. While this internship will primarily focus on recruiting, hiring, and employee relations, the Human Relations Department will strive to expose interns to various areas of the HR function to give them as well-rounded an experience as possible. Typical duties will include:
- Interacting with job candidates via phone, email, and in person, answering questions, and assisting candidates in finding the position and schedule that will work for them.
- Assisting candidates with applications and all new-hire paperwork.
- Completing criminal background checks and submitting E-Verify cases; reviewing information with the HR Director to make the best business decisions.
- Entering pertinent information in the HR Information System in a timely and thorough manner. Double-checking all entries and auditing the work of other members of the HR team to ensure accuracy.
- Working closely with Department Heads and Administrators to determine current staffing needs, prioritizing key positions when interacting with candidates.
- Welcoming all new hires to Stock Show and ensuring they have everything they need to get started on the right foot.
- Serving as a resource to all employees who have questions regarding their timecards, pay, or other employee relations issues.
- Selling meal vouchers.
- Developing recruiting methods for year-round and seasonal staff.
- Assisting the HR Director with the management of the NWSS Intern Program, including the Intern/Intern Alumni Facebook page.
The ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communication skills, works well under pressure, and enjoys interacting with large numbers of people. Supervisor: Juliana Hauska, Executive Assistant to the President & CEO
Join the Executive Office team with an excellent opportunity for students to learn a variety of professional skills and network with industry professionals. Executive Office Interns will be at all 29 rodeo performances to help manage the President’s Box and VIP guests and attend several high-profile events such as the President’s Reception, Mayor City Council Dinner, and Red Meat Club Dinner. Students interested in this internship should be flexible, reliable, possess strong customer service skills, and be able to maintain a high degree of professionalism at all times. A willingness to jump into a variety of tasks and work in a fast-paced environment will also be necessary.
Tasks include:
- Coordinate opening/closing, refreshments, signage, and tracking guests in the International Room.
- Assist Reception Desk - greeting visitors, answering phones, answering questions, and distributing membership orders upon request.
- Hospitality in the President’s Box- managing provisions, cleaning before and after performances, helping greet and assist VIP guests, and attending to the President’s or Executive Assistant’s needs upon request.
- Facilitating guests on the hitch during the rodeo.
- Checking in at the National Western Club with volunteers, members, and guests.
- Attending award presentations (coronation of Miss Rodeo Colorado, Red Meat Club, etc.).
- Assisting with ticketing for the CEO section above the bucking chutes.
- Supporting Membership with member orders and pick up.
- Various office tasks including mail distribution, photocopying, printing items, and office runner.
- Jumping in to help wherever and however is needed, including assisting other departments upon request.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, efficient, friendly, and detail-oriented. This candidate should have strong customer service and problem-solving skills and must be able to maintain a calm, professional demeanor under pressure. The Capital Campaign is seeking candidates to assist with event support, office tasks, customer service, and social media during the annual National Western Stock Show. Applicants should be excellent with time management, outgoing and friendly, detail-oriented, and proficient with Microsoft Office. Must have strong written and communication skills, problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude. Stock Show experience is preferred, but not required. Some duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Provide support and assist with special event preparation and execution.
- Provide confirmation emails to guests and visitors.
- Greet guests and provide directions, with emphasis on the new Legacy building.
- Prepare guest lists and event materials.
- Track and log sales and any new gifts/pledges; create reports as needed.
- Upload new constituents and attributes to the database.
- Send follow-up communications via email.
- Fold inserts and create campaign packets.
- Manage social media channels, including Instagram and Facebook.
- Assist with other office duties and administrative tasks.

The National Western proudly hosts top equestrian athletes of various disciplines from across the nation. The Horse Show department continues to be a premier destination for competitors and equine enthusiasts alike, through a wide variety of competitions and ticketed performances. The Horse Show Production intern will be exposed to various aspects of horse show management and event production and promotion, as well as have the opportunity to network and build lifelong connections within the industry.
NWSS strives to provide a meaningful experience while allowing the intern to support the overall goals of the Horse Show Department by using core disciplines like event planning, organization, leadership, interpersonal skills, interviewing, and live event production skills. Applicants should possess effective verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, a strong work ethic and integrity, an attention to detail, the ability to cope with pressure, flexibility, the ability to think on their feet, and an enthusiastic attitude.
The following tasks are intended to provide the intern with a broad scope of the event production and management responsibilities of the Horse Show Department, and the intern should be flexible and prepared to assist with other projects and tasks as assigned:
- Assist with managing logistics for events, which includes collecting exhibitor materials (entries, Horse Health Declarations, payment, production items, etc.)
- Support the inventory and proper distribution of credentials, competition numbers, gifts, awards, etc., to exhibitors
- Prepare event materials such as nametags, QR codes, signs, digital patterns, etc.
- Assist show secretaries with verifying judges’ cards and results, collecting and copying scoresheets, and posting results
- Provide consistent and accurate information, data, results, pictures, etc., to the Horse Show communications team to ensure timely updates to the website and social media
- Contribute to the production and event teams by attending production meetings and rehearsals, updating scripts and show flows, greeting anthem singers, assisting with awards presentations, etc.
- Support the setup and tear down of various events
- Generate, send, and monitor exhibitor surveys
- Assist with additional tasks to support the Horse Show

NWSS strives to provide a meaningful experience while allowing the intern to support the overall goals of the Horse Show Department by using core disciplines like communication, graphic design, content generation, strategic promotion, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Applicants should possess effective verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, a strong work ethic and integrity, an attention to detail, the ability to cope with pressure, an understanding of social media platforms, flexibility, the ability to self-motivate, and an enthusiastic attitude.
The following tasks are intended to provide the intern with a broad scope of the event production and management responsibilities of the Horse Show Department, and the intern should be flexible and prepared to assist with other projects and tasks as assigned:
- Learn and execute a communications strategy
- Create and schedule content for various platforms
- Gather accurate information, data, results, pictures, etc., from the Horse Show production team to ensure timely and consistent updates to the website and social media
- Update and disburse show history, event information, and exhibitor stats to provide attending media
- Assist with public relations and promotional efforts
- Write event recaps and results stories
- Communicate with and interview staff and exhibitors for edited video and written stories
- Take photos and videos to support recaps, stories, blogs, e-blasts, social media, and website content
- Develop social media content and design various graphics that support the social media strategy
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to collect multimedia content
- Ensure event recaps, photos, and results are submitted in a timely fashion
- Update media guides with draws, entries, show history, and information

Assistant Supervisor: Brandi Fuller, Livestock Operations Coordinator
The Livestock Operations internship is geared towards those applicants interested in learning how to work, manage, and execute livestock shows & sales at a national, elite level. Interns will work with open & junior breeding cattle, pen & carload cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, llamas, poultry, and more. Many of these species and breeds are overseen by national or local organizations with which interns will have the opportunity to network & work alongside. Daily duties may include clerking and reporting auctions & sales, helping on-site veterinarians, working in the feed and satellite offices, operating webcasting cameras/computers, and assisting NWSS Show Managers with miscellaneous tasks. Attention to detail, computer skills, and a high level of professionalism are crucial. Interns will enter data, process livestock & paperwork, collect health papers, verify information, and communicate with exhibitors via phone, email, and in the barns. This position requires a lot of work both inside & out and covers the span of our entire campus – so be prepared for lots of steps and long days!

Supervisor: Cassidy Esposito, Digital Marketing Coordinator
Interns will serve as members of the Marketing Team, assisting with all aspects of marketing and communication for the 2025 National Western Stock Show. Responsibilities include helping to promote the event through marketing materials, ticket offers/promotions, website information and updates, all NWSS social media platforms, digital newsletters, and the Stock Show Parade.
Duties will include:
- Utilizing the digital newsletter program Constant Contact to build e-blast content and execute sponsorship fulfillment for the NWSS Stock Show Insider to 130k subscribers throughout Show.
- Creating and helping to manage Stock Show Todays, horse show programs, website blog posts, daily event schedules with included sponsors, print deadlines, ticket sales initiatives, and promotions.
- Assisting with Stock Show events, social media posts, “Guest of the Day” selection and execution, media interviews, etc.
- Assisting local and industry media, press, and news outlets in support of promotional and news coverage of NWSS.
- Helping with credential requests, distribution of media credentials, setting up media interviews/photo opportunities, and developing content for live newscasts.
- Writing press releases, daily bulletins, and daily event sheets.
- Maintaining the media lounge.
- Acting as a liaison between Marketing and Rodeo Media operations.
- Helping with Stock Show media events, including the Media Appreciation Party.
We are looking for candidates who can work well in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines, have an outgoing personality, and are creative thinkers. Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills and be an active user of Microsoft Office, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, and/or TikTok social media platforms.
Preferred abilities include:
- Familiarity with building and creating TikTok and Instagram reels.
- Experience in email marketing programs like Constant Contact.
- Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite.

The Rodeo Operations team plans and produces 29 ticketed rodeo events, including three Colorado vs the World Rodeos, 20 PRCA Pro Rodeos, three Professional Bull Ridings (PBR), two Mexican Rodeo Extravaganzas, and one MLK Heritage Rodeo. The Rodeo Operations interns will be exposed to many aspects of rodeo planning, production, and logistics. Ideal candidates are self-starters, adaptable, customer service savvy, punctual, and professional.
Interns will help with the general production and planning of Colorado vs. the World, PRCA, PBR, MLK, and Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza rodeos by assisting in pre-event logistics, assisting rodeo personnel during performances, supporting rodeo volunteers, and assisting in rodeo education activities. Responsibilities may also include creating day sheets, updating rodeo results, coordinating logistics of features, and various other rodeo production functions.

We are seeking candidates with a passion for event planning and project management! This position will assist in the preparation and execution of several prestigious events that occur during Stock Show, including the Citizen of the West dinner and Junior Livestock Auction. The Citizen of the West dinner will host 1,000 guests at a cocktail reception, sit-down dinner, and awards program. The Junior Livestock Auction is an exhilarating, live broadcast event with 800+ guests bidding on prize livestock. Both events support the National Western Scholarship Trust, which awards 110 scholarships annually to students studying agriculture, rural medicine, and veterinary science.
Responsibilities for this internship include, but are not limited to:
- Coordinate with internal staff, clients, vendors, committee members, and others to establish needs for events.
- Complete accounting administrative work (invoicing, payments, purchase orders, etc.).
- Manage event registrations.
- Manage floor plans and seating diagrams.
- Attend committee meetings and walkthroughs.
- Complete data entry as needed.
- Complete mass mailings (invitations, pre-event information, National Western Stock Show collateral, etc.).
- Coordinate with event vendors and volunteers.
- Provide event setup and execution support.
Candidates for this position must be self-starters and problem solvers with efficient time management skills and an excellent customer service attitude. This position requires high attention to detail, an ability to multitask, and knowledge of computer applications (Microsoft Suite and Outlook). In return for hard work and dedication, the intern in this role will gain real-world event planning and project management experience, which are skill sets that can be applied in a variety of future careers.
The Special Events & Fundraising Intern will need to be available 8 hours per week beginning December 8, 2025 (remote), and should plan on working each day January 10-January 25, 2026.

The National Western Stock Show Strategic Partnership Interns hold a temporary position with an emphasis on gaining educational and practical business experience in a professional setting. These interns will gain valuable experience working with all members of the Strategic Partnerships team in an environment full of learning opportunities designed to help interns develop their capabilities and challenge their strengths.
Strategic Partnership Interns will assist the team by executing partnerships with regional and national brands with a focus on delivering the highest-level experience for our clients. Interns will gain a broad perspective of behind-the-scenes event activation with a focus on developing strong external business relationships. Interns will learn about management, sales, deliverables, and customer service.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Understanding the details of each partnership to ensure all accounts are fulfilled with the highest level of professionalism, attention to detail, and focus on their end goal.
- Assisting with the activation of each element of a partner's contract.
- Representing the National Western Stock Show throughout the 16-day event with the highest level of respect and professionalism.
- Providing assistance in the office with any partner-related responsibilities.
- Setting up and managing partner activation throughout event as needed, including during rodeo performances.
- Learning and implementing the activation process including execution, capturing the details of the event, and building the recap document as a proof of performance for the client.
Candidates must have strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills, and demonstrate an interest in business marketing & how businesses align themselves with an event such as Stock Show. Strong problem-solving and time management skills, being a self-starter, and familiarity with Microsoft computer applications are essential in this position.
