Denver, CO – The iconic tradition of longhorn cattle marching through the streets of downtown Denver can only mean one thing… it’s Stock Show time. The National Western Stock Show, presented by CommonSpirit Health, opens its doors on Saturday, January 6. But not before the annual pilgrimage of longhorn cattle, western wagons, horses, and pooper scoopers make their way through Denver for the Stock Show Kick-off Parade, presented by Arrow Electronics. Download Parade Map

The herd of Texas Longhorns traipsing through the Denver streets on Thursday, January 4 comes from Silverado Ranch, headquartered at Monument and Ellicott, Colorado. Ranch owners Stan Searle and Gary Lake will continue a tradition that began in 2006, celebrating the 100th year of Stock Show. Helping them with the “downtown cattle drive” will be cowhands from several area ranches. This unique annual spectacle has earned Denver the distinction of being the only major city in the country where Texas Longhorns are herded loose through the streets.

The doors to the 118th National Western Stock Show open at 9 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, for 16 days of celebrating Colorado’s iconic western heritage, action-packed pro rodeos, horse shows, family events, acres of shopping, and the “Super Bowl” of livestock shows. With over 300 events and activities, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

“We are so excited to open our doors for the 118th edition of Stock Show,” said Paul Andrews, President & CEO of the National Western Stock Show. “Based on our livestock entries, rodeo, and event ticket sales, and the sheer excitement around our state, Stock Show is the place to be this month.”
