National Western’s nonprofit governing body welcomes SVP and Chief Risk Officer of Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, LLC.

DENVER, CO – Luke Lind has joined the Board of Directors of the Western Stock Show Association (WSSA), the Denver-based nonprofit that operates the National Western Stock Show.

Lind is senior vice president and chief risk officer of Johnstown, Colo. based Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, LLC, the world’s largest cattle feeding company. He joined Five Rivers at its inception in 2005. Prior to that, Lind had risen to vice president of marketing at Five Rivers’ predecessor, ContiBeef, LLC. He holds a degree in animal science from Colorado State University and later studied finance at the University of Denver.

Lind has been active in the Colorado Livestock Association, where he served as chairman of the Feeder Council for more than a decade. He is also a past chairman of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association’s Live Cattle Marketing Committee as well as serving on advisory boards to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange’s Live Cattle Contract.

“No one knows the cattle business better than Luke Lind,” said Doug Jones, chairman of the WSSA Board. “The National Western’s leadership will gain immensely from his diverse experience and deep expertise in this quintessential Western business.”

Few know the National Western Stock Show better than Lind, either. He has attended and exhibited cattle during the “best 16 days in January” for nearly 60 years. His sons have sold steers in the Junior Livestock Auction and are now actively involved in raising and selling show cattle on the family farm in Eaton, Colo. In addition, Lind has served on the Junior Livestock Committee for nearly 15 years and on the Judges Committee for 12 years. Most recently, he has been a member of the WSSA’s Livestock Task Force, collaborating with National Western staff and Cattle Breed Associations to prepare for the 2026 grand opening of the National Western’s 350,000-square-foot Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Livestock Center.

“The National Western’s offerings run the gamut from entertainment to trade shows to education,” said Paul Andrews, National Western Stock Show president and CEO. “The cattle business was at the heart of it all back when the Stock Show began in 1906, and that has never changed. Luke is one of the most talented and experienced hands in cattle, and we’re thrilled to have him on the WSSA board.”
