The Swine Draw for the 2024 NWSS will open June 1, 2024 and close July 1, 2024. Applicants will be notified of their draw status within 10 business days of the deadline.
What is the Swine Draw?
In order to show junior market swine at the National Western, eligible exhibitors must pay a $20 application fee, and complete an enter the draw between June 1 and July 1. Simply put, our facilities cannot fit all of the interested swine exhibitors, hence why we have a lottery to guarantee barn space every January.
The Swine draw is completely random. 2 Members of the NWSS Livestock team along with a member of the NWSS accounting team input all Swine drawn entrants into Excel and run a random draw function. The draw is done while utilizing our Microsoft Teams service and recorded. Thus we can assure the draw is completely unbiased and random.
Following the Draw, exhibitors drawn into the show will need to order DNA and follow the entire entry process for Junior Market Animals to be successfully entered in the Jr Market Swine Show.
Age Eligibility
To be eligible to exhibit junior market animals at the National Western Stock Show, the Participant must be nine (9) years of age but not Nineteen (19) years of age as of January 1, 2025 and formally enrolled and a member in good standing in 4-H or FFA.
